The Bitcoin Cash cryptocurrency is expected to hit the $10,000 level within a few days.
Bitcoin Cash has surged more than 40% in value since the start of its ICO in August.
But the cryptocurrency’s price has been trending downwards, falling from $12,500 on August 31 to $6,000 on September 10.
It has also been the subject of a number of scams, with people trading Bitcoin Cash for real money or making money off the exchange.
The latest scam involves a man posing as a cryptocurrency exchange and offering Bitcoin Cash.
The man’s message reads: “We accept Bitcoin Cash, it’s worth $0.99 and you can buy it at 0.99 BTC”.
The scammer claims to be a senior member of Bitpesas exchange and offers to sell Bitcoin Cash at 0-1 BTC.
He says: “You need to buy at least 1 BTC.”
The exchange is only accepting Bitcoin Cash because there are not enough merchants accepting it, but the man claims to have received payment from at least one.
He asks for a total of $200.
The scamster claims to offer a $50 Bitcoin Cash discount to users.
However, the Bitpesash exchange offers a $10 discount and a $20 discount to Bitcoin Cash holders.
The exchange says the man made a mistake and is refunded $300.
Bitpesa has not responded to requests for comment.
Bitcoin has fallen sharply in value.
